Sweden to Fund Rehabilitation Center for Wounded Ukrainian Soldiers

Sweden will finance the creation of a rehabilitation center in Ukraine for wounded Ukrainian servicemembers, the Swedish government announced this week, The Gaze reports, citing European Pravda.
The center will be part of an ongoing NATO-Ukraine project aimed at helping injured soldiers recover and either return to active duty or reintegrate into civilian life.
“Ukraine is fighting not only for its freedom but also for ours. Continuing to support them in this struggle is the most important task of our time in security policy,” said Swedish Minister for Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin.
Minister of Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson added that assistance in rehabilitating wounded soldiers is in high demand and will also contribute to reforming and modernizing Ukraine’s healthcare system. “I am glad that Swedish expertise and commitment to Ukraine can play a role in this,” she said.
The project will include refurbishing and adapting an existing building in Ukraine, procuring and installing modern rehabilitation equipment, and training Ukrainian medical staff in trauma care and physical and mental rehabilitation.
Implementation is scheduled to take place from July 2025 through July 2027.
As The Gaze previously reported, at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2025) in Rome, the Government of Norway and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced a $200 million initiative to support the green reconstruction of Ukraine’s energy sector, heavily damaged by Russian attacks.
