US Sends Military Aid to Moldova
The United States has delivered military equipment to Moldova, including assets for aerial surveillance, mobility and transportation, logistics, command and control, as well as cybersecurity equipment.
This information was provided by the Ministry of Defense of Moldova and the US Embassy in Chisinau.
According to the Moldovan defense ministry's website, this assistance is part of the National Army's modernization efforts and the strengthening of the country's defense capabilities. It's noted that the shipment was transported by air.
The US Embassy's statement in Chisinau highlighted that over the past 31 years, the US government, through the US European Command, has provided more than $123 million in military aid, training, and exercises, as well as over $36 million in humanitarian assistance, at the request of Moldova's current and previous governments.
The embassy also reminded that the agreement for the planned supply of this batch of defense products was signed in 2019. According to the diplomatic mission, this is "just one of many examples of how the United States takes pride in its partnership with the Republic of Moldova to ensure a more prosperous, democratic, and secure future for all its citizens."
The EU Council has approved support measures within the European Peace Facility to aid the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova, with the aim of enhancing national security, stability, and resilience in the country's defense sector.
The approved aid package worth €40 million, spanning 36 months, will finance non-lethal equipment, materials, and services for the country's Armed Forces, including technical training upon request if necessary.
Later, it was revealed that the first batch of equipment provided by the European Peace Facility (EPF) for the Moldovan military had arrived in Moldova. This €7 million aid package includes drones, laptops, equipment for handling explosive objects, ultrasound equipment, surgical dressings, and more.
In February of this year, Moldovan President Maia Sandu unveiled details of a suspected Russian plan for a military coup, which she claimed involved an attack on state institutions and hostage-taking.
As reported by The Gaze, the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, stated that individuals with diplomatic status from Russia, located in the self-proclaimed Transnistria region, were engaging in activities beyond diplomacy.
Additionally, it was reported that dozens of antennas and satellite dishes have been installed on the roof of the Russian Embassy in Moldova, which Russian special services use for surveillance.
According to Moldovan journalists, the number of dishes and transmission devices on the roof of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau has been increasing each year. Mysterious individuals can also occasionally be observed on the rooftop of the diplomatic representation and neighboring buildings.
