Zelenskyy Pushes for Closer U.S. Defense Cooperation Following Russian Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv has put forward large-scale agreements on drones and weapons procurement to the United States after the Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Zelenskyy’s post on social media.
The Ukrainian president reported that Russian forces launched nearly 90 attack drones overnight, targeting multiple regions including Donetsk, Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Dnipro, as well as the capital. Infrastructure and industrial facilities were among the main targets.
Two people were injured in the city of Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk region, while in Kyiv public transport infrastructure sustained damage.
Emergency crews are continuing repair and recovery operations. Zelenskyy praised Ukrainian air defense units for intercepting the majority of the drones.
The president accused Moscow of deliberately striking civilians while global calls for peace, particularly from the United States, grow louder.
“We hear President Trump’s position on ending the killings, and we have agreed to all the proposals to unblock diplomacy. But it seems this position is not being heard in Russia. This means that we must more actively implement everything that strengthens us: the PURL initiative, co-production, and the finalization of security guarantees,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukraine has presented major proposals to the United States on drones and arms procurement and stressed that only decisive measures could push Russia to take diplomacy seriously.
According to Ukraine’s Defense Forces, 71 of 86 drones launched by Russia on the night of September 19 were shot down. Enemy strikes, however, caused damage in six locations.
