The Nordic countries provide defence support to Ukraine, including weapons production, winterisation, shelter construction and support for the Victory Plan, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following the fourth Ukraine-Nordic Europe Summit in Reykjavik, Iceland.

He thanked Iceland and Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson for organising the summit and their commitment to international law, and noted Denmark's leadership in investing in arms production in Ukraine.

‘Your determination has created a special model for investing in our defence production, which we share with other partners. And today all partners have confirmed their readiness to follow the Danish model,’ Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President of Ukraine thanked Finland for the recent defence package, participation in the coalition of shelters and organisation of the conference on the basis of the Formula for Peace clause on environmental protection.

Zelenskyy noted Sweden's assistance to Ukraine's energy sector before the start of the heating season, Norway's assistance in strengthening air defence, assistance in the maritime component, long-term financial support for Ukraine and readiness to strengthen the energy sector.

‘Today we have agreed on the Nordic countries' support for the Victory Plan, which I have presented to key partners. This Plan can push Russia to peace if it is implemented,’ the President noted.

The participants of the summit discussed additional needs in air defence and suggested ways to strengthen Ukraine's air shield with Patriot systems.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of inviting Ukraine to join NATO.

Prime Minister of Iceland Bjarni Benediktsson stressed the importance of increasing funding for the energy sector and defence support for Ukraine.

The Prime Ministers of Iceland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the President of Ukraine also issued a joint statement.
