Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha met with his Danish counterpart, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, to discuss enhanced cooperation between Kyiv and Copenhagen as Denmark assumes the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Gaze reports on this with reference to Sybiha’s post on social media platform X.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2025 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome and focused on strengthening bilateral ties, expanding defense cooperation, and advancing Ukraine’s path toward European integration.

Sybiha described the conversation as “warm and productive,” expressing deep appreciation for Denmark’s “unwavering and practical support” for Ukraine.

He particularly praised Denmark’s investments in Ukraine’s defense industry, calling them a model for other countries seeking to combine solidarity with strategic impact.

“The Danish model of investments in the Ukrainian defense industry sets an example of joint cooperation and inspires other nations worldwide. We focused on further strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities as Russia escalates its terror against civilians and our infrastructure,” Sybiha wrote.

The ministers also discussed joint diplomatic efforts to bring about a just and lasting peace, and explored ways Denmark could use its EU presidency to further Ukraine’s accession prospects.

We look forward to seeing Denmark’s strong leadership in the EU with the European integration of Ukraine as well as enhanced sanctions pressure on Russia,” Sybiha noted.

Denmark began its six-month presidency of the Council of the EU on July 1, 2025. The Danish government has pledged to prioritize Ukraine in its presidency agenda, framing support for Kyiv as both a moral imperative and a strategic necessity for European stability.

As The Gaze reported earlier, the Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO) has announced a $5 million investment in the D3 defence technology venture fund to support Ukrainian defence tech.
