Apple has developed its own framework called "Ajax" for creating large language models and is also testing a chatbot named "Apple GPT." Following this news, Apple's stocks rose by 2.3% to reach a record level of $198.23, according to Bloomberg.

While Apple has been using artificial intelligence (AI) features in its products for many years, it is currently playing catch-up in the AI market. The release of OpenAI's ChatGPT has garnered significant attention from consumers and companies, leading to major updates in various popular products, including search systems and digital assistants.

Siri, Apple's voice assistant, has been the flagship AI product for Apple, but it has remained stagnant for years, despite the company making progress in AI for photo enhancement and iPhone search. This year, Apple will introduce a smarter version of autocorrect for mobile devices.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has cautiously discussed artificial intelligence in public speeches, acknowledging its potential while also recognizing the need to address several concerns. He stated that Apple will gradually integrate AI into more of its products but with great caution.

In reality, Apple is highly concerned about the significant attention users are giving to generative AI, as it has the potential to alter the way people interact with their phones, computers, and other devices. Apple's revenue from device sales reached nearly $320 billion in the last fiscal year, and this figure could decline if the company fails to keep up with AI advancements.

Apple has already implemented enhanced AI features for search, Siri, and maps, while Ajax is currently being used for developing large language models and serves as the foundation for an internal tool similar to ChatGPT.

Apple's own chatbot was created last year as an experiment by a small team of engineers, but its deployment was initially halted due to security and privacy concerns. Access to Apple GPT requires special authorization, and its usage for customer-facing features is strictly limited.

Samsung and other tech companies have also developed their own internal tools similar to ChatGPT, following concerns about the leakage of confidential data when using third-party services.

Anonymous Apple employees assert that the company's internal tool essentially duplicates Bard, ChatGPT, and Bing AI without any new features or technologies. This system is available in a web version and has a simplified design not intended for general use. Apple currently has no plans to release a consumer program but is actively working on improving its core models.
