Bloomberg: US Proposes Easing Sanctions on Russia

The United States has presented its own proposals to European allies for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, which, in particular, include easing sanctions against Russia in the event of a lasting ceasefire.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Bloomberg.
Bloomberg's European sources say that the US presented its plan during a series of meetings in Paris on 17 April.
The proposal calls for a de facto freeze on the war, with Ukrainian territories currently occupied by Russia remaining under Moscow's control, the sources said.
The U.S. proposal also includes easing sanctions against Russia and rejects discussion of Ukraine's aspirations to become a NATO member, Bloomberg writes, noting that the sources declined to disclose other details.
One of the officials, who spoke to Bloomberg on condition of anonymity, said that the plans would not be a ‘final settlement’ and that Ukraine's European allies would not recognise its occupied territories as Russian.
The officials also stressed that the talks would be futile unless Russia agreed to cease hostilities and emphasised the importance of providing Ukraine with security guarantees to secure any deal.
As The Gaze reported earlier, US President Donald Trump says that Russia will send Washington a response to a ceasefire proposal in Ukraine this week. He said this at the White House during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on 17 April.
