NATO Drills to Take Place Near Russian Borders

During the NATO Dynamic Messenger exercises, which will take place in Finland in June, maritime unmanned systems will be tested.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to a press release from the country's Ministry of Defense.
The events will take place in the sea area west of Porkkala to the Hanko area.
“Unmanned systems have enormous potential... Intelligent and autonomous systems can be used, for example, to monitor territories and objects, freeing up valuable resources for other purposes,” said Deputy Chief of Staff for Naval Operations Marko Laaksonen.
The training areas will be monitored at sea.
The exercises will focus on the protection of port areas and critical underwater infrastructure.
It is reported that the Dynamic Messenger training program will include operational tests in the NATO area of responsibility.
Operations in shallow waters and in the archipelago-type conditions of the Finnish coast will help develop systems that can also be used in the Baltic Sea.
The Finnish Navy, in coordination with NATO, will practice the use of new technologies as part of the development of maritime defense, the report said.
In January, the North Atlantic Alliance launched the Baltic Sentry mission to strengthen the protection of critical underwater infrastructure in the Baltic Sea.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Russia tried to spy on NATO exercises in Lithuania. A Russian reconnaissance aircraft was spotted in Belarusian airspace during NATO's Iron Wolf exercise.
