Bulgaria Postpones Testing of Warning System to Avoid Scaring People
Bulgaria has postponed the testing of a warning system to avoid further scaring people amid tensions in the Middle East.
This is reported by The Sofia Globe.
Bulgaria's Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the postponement of the testing of the national early warning siren, as well as the BG-Alert system for mobile phones, scheduled for 1 October.
The ministry said that the decision was made due to the situation in the Middle East and to avoid additional tension among the public.
It is noted that in April 2022, the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs cancelled a civil defence siren test to avoid panic among the public after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Bulgaria normally tests its civil defence siren system in several major cities and towns twice a year - in early April and early October.
As The Gaze previously reported, the Israeli Defence Forces launched a new phase of the war against Hezbollah on Tuesday night, initiating a ground operation in southern Lebanon.
