CNN: Harris Selects Minnesota Governor Walz as her Vice-Presidential Running Mate
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her future vice president if she wins the election.
This was reported by CNN, citing a number of sources.
According to the broadcaster's interlocutors, Harris made the decision on 6 August and will officially announce Walz as her vice-presidential candidate later that day.
According to CNN, Tim Walz is serving his second term as governor of Minnesota and is the head of the Democratic Governors Association. Before that, he was a member of Congress for 12 years in a conservative rural district previously dominated by Republicans.
The politician became known for his criticism of Donald Trump and his vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance. Thus, to describe them, Volz used the phrase "weird dudes", which became a meme in the Democratic presidential campaign.
Last weekend, on 3-4 August, Kamala Harris interviewed six potential candidates for the position of her deputy. The list includes the governors of Kentucky Andy Beshear, Illinois Jay Pritzker, Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Tim Walz, as well as Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
