The Czech Minister of Defence, Jana Cernochova, has expressed her outrage at a UN General Assembly resolution calling on Israel to halt its military operations in the Gaza Strip, launched in response to the terrorist actions of Hamas. She has, in turn, urged the Czech Republic to withdraw from the United Nations.

This information comes from Prague Morning.

"Just three weeks ago, Hamas killed more than 1,400 Israelis, which means that there were more casualties per capita than the number of victims of the September 11 attacks claimed by militant Islamist organization Al-Qaeda. Only 14 countries, including ours, have clearly and unequivocally spoken out against this unprecedented act of terror committed by Hamas. I am ashamed of the UN. In my opinion, the Czech Republic should not expect anything from an organization that supports terrorists and does not respect the basic right to self-defence. So, let's leave," Cernochova stated.

The UN General Assembly resolution approved on Friday calls for an "immediate, sustained, and comprehensive humanitarian ceasefire leading to the cessation of hostilities."

The resolution did not include condemnation of Hamas' attack on Israel or mention Hamas in the context of releasing hostages.

The resolution received the support of 121 countries, with only 14 voting against it, and 45 abstaining.

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that the Czech Republic voted against the UN General Assembly resolution because "the text was missing several key elements," including condemning Hamas' attack and acknowledging Israel's right to self-defence.

"The resolution does not provide guarantees that Hamas and other terrorists will not abuse the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid. If we do not have a clear understanding of the need to stop terrorism, we are not making progress towards the desired peace in the Middle East," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared.

"The Czech Republic is firmly committed to the two-state solution, which remains the only vital perspective for ensuring the security of Israel and realizing the aspirations of the Palestinians for their own state," the statement reads. "Both Israelis and Palestinians deserve to live in peace, security, and dignity."

As reported by The Gaze, Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, called for UN Secretary-General António Guterres to resign after he attempted to explain the reasons behind Hamas' attack on Israel.

"A Secretary-General who sympathizes with the campaign of mass murder of children, women, and the elderly cannot lead the UN. I call on him to resign immediately. There is no justification or sense in talking to those who express sympathy for those who committed the most heinous atrocities against the citizens of Israel and the Jewish people. There are simply no words," the diplomat wrote.
