Denmark to Invest DKK 4.2 billion in Ukraine's Defence Industry
Denmark will continue to invest in Ukraine's defence industry and will purchase weapons worth DKK 4.2 billion for the Ukrainian army. The idea is to supply Ukrainian weapons and equipment to the frontline with Danish funding, as well as frozen Russian assets that Denmark is confiscating on behalf of the EU, according to the Danish Ministry of Defence.
The purchase of weapons will be funded by DKK 1.3 billion that the government, with the support of the Danish parliament, has allocated for this purpose, and DKK 2.9 billion from frozen Russian assets that Denmark is to cash in on behalf of the EU.
According to the Danish Ministry of Defence, Ukrainian weapons and equipment will be delivered to the frontline with the help of funding from Denmark. For this purpose, Denmark uses the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
A corresponding agreement on intentions to continue cooperation on contracts with Ukrainian defence companies was signed by Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen together with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov and Minister of Strategic Industry German Smetanin.
‘This strengthens the ability of Ukrainians to produce exactly the weapons that are in demand,’ said Mr Lund Poulsen.
‘Denmark is leading the way by donating arms directly from the Ukrainian defence industry. This strengthens the ability of Ukrainians to produce the weapons that are in demand,’ said Troels Lund Paulsen.
