Denmark has handed over autonomous hydrographic complexes SeaBat T51 to the Ukrainian Navy. These unique drones are capable of detecting underwater objects, as reported by the official publication of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, ArmyInform.
The features of the drones were explained by the Chief of the Hydrographic Service of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Captain 1st Rank Roman Honcharenko. According to him, these drones are equipped with a multi-beam echosounder designed for mapping the seabed to enhance situational awareness of the underwater environment.
"The main task of the multi-beam echosounder is to collect accurate data about the seabed and marine environment. This information can then be processed and used to create and update maritime charts and tablets to support safe navigation in the area," noted Honcharenko.
He explained that this capability allows for identifying underwater obstacles, selecting optimal locations for vessel anchorage, and determining routes for vessel navigation.
"Autonomous control of the sonar with artificial intelligence specifically designed for SeaBat T51 is a unique innovation. SeaBat's autonomous sonar ensures reliable data and the operation of the hydrolocator without manual assistance, enhancing the efficiency of data collection with reduced operator workload," highlighted Honcharenko.
It was previously reported that Denmark would transfer 7 million euros to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine for the purchase of equipment to restore energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks. This fund was established in spring 2022, providing international financial organizations and partners with the opportunity to accumulate and provide substantial support to Ukraine's energy sector, which regularly faces attacks from Russia.
It is worth noting that Denmark became the first country-sponsor of the Fund, contributing approximately 536,000 euros. These funds were used to purchase energy equipment for 10 Ukrainian energy companies.
Additionally, Denmark will provide Ukraine with a assistance package of 40.2 million euros for reconstruction needs, including heating provision in Mykolaiv. In late October, Denmark announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 3.7 billion Danish crowns (approximately 520 million dollars) for the purchase of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and ammunition.
