Estonian Prime Minister: Support for Ukraine in Coming Months Will Shape EU's Future
Support for Ukraine in the coming months will determine the future of the European Union, and European countries must do more to protect Kyiv and themselves after Donald Trump's victory in the United States. This was stated by Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal, Bloomberg reports.
‘The Estonian Prime Minister said that support for Ukraine in the coming months will determine the future of the EU and urged his colleagues to do more to protect Kyiv and themselves,’ the report said.
The Estonian Prime Minister said in an interview with Bloomberg Television that allowing Russia to change Ukraine's borders by force would undermine European values.
He called on his EU partners to increase defence spending to counter the threat from the Kremlin and demonstrate to Trump that Europe takes security issues seriously.
‘The fate of the European system based on values and rules will also be decided to some extent in this conflict,’ Michal said.
Michal is in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, for meetings on 7 November, during which European leaders will discuss the US election results and try to develop their initial reaction to the prospect of a second Trump presidential term.
As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting Hungary for the first time since the Russian invasion to attend the European Political Community summit.
