EU Ambassador: Despite War, Ukraine Makes Significant Progress on Reforms

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova has expressed her admiration for the way Ukraine has managed to successfully implement reforms and resist Russian military aggression at the same time.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Mathernova's interview with FREEDOM TV channel.
Mathernova noted that Ukraine has implemented many reforms compared to countries that started the EU accession process earlier.
‘It has undertaken a lot of the, what we call fundamentals reform, which is the judiciary fight against corruption, democratic institution, parliamentary republic and human rights,’ she said.
According to Mathernova, she is optimistic and believes that over the next few weeks and months, the EU will reach unanimity and agree to accept Ukraine.
‘But in the meantime the work continues both on the Ukrainian side and on the side of the European Commission. And here I want to pause for a second just to say that Ukraine has made remarkable progress in reforms while fighting the war. Because of the consensus that existed in the or exists in the society, one was able to adopt legislation and carry out reforms that were very hard to do even before the full scale invasion. So what I want to underline is that the reforms did not stop when the fighting started. On the contrary, they accelerated,’ said Katarina Mathernova.
