EU Begins Closed Consultations on 18th Russia Sanctions Package

This weekend, the European Commission will hold closed consultations with EU member states on further sanctions against Russia.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to European Pravda.
Radio Liberty's editor, Rikard Dzoswiak, cited his sources as saying that this weekend the European Commission will hold closed consultations with representatives of EU member states on the next, 18th, package of sanctions against Russia.
It should be noted that the EU criticised the 17th package of sanctions against Russia for its war against Ukraine, which was approved on 20 May. In particular, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda believes that it is insufficient, so the next package should be more stringent.
The EU Council also disclosed the details of additional personal sanctions imposed in response to Russia's hybrid destabilisation activities against EU countries and partners.
These sanctions are one of a series of packages that were prepared for approval on 20 May.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the European Union has approved a new package of sanctions against Russia, the 17th in a row since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
