EU Imposes 17th Package of Sanctions on Russia

The European Union approved a new package of sanctions against Russia, the 17th in a row since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to a post by top EU diplomat Kaja Kallas on X.
According to her, the package will affect, in particular, almost 200 vessels of Russia's "shadow fleet".
"The new measures also address hybrid threats and human rights," Kallas added.
The head of European diplomacy also informed about the start of work on the next sanctions package against Russia.
"The longer Russia wages war, the tougher our response will be," Kallas stressed.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the EU is to approve three more sanctions packages in addition to the 17th package: on Russia's hybrid activities, human rights violations and the use of chemical weapons.
The EU has already started working on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. It may include restrictions on banks from non-EU countries that support the Russian defence industry and army.
