EU leaders have confirmed their readiness to contribute to providing security guarantees to Ukraine in a joint statement following the EU summit in Brussels.

The statement, published on the official page of the European Council.

"The European Union and its member states are ready to support the delivery of future security commitments to Ukraine, which will help Ukraine defend itself in the long term, deter acts of aggression, and counter destabilization efforts.",-the statement said.

However, according to the statement, such commitments can only be made by countries while fully respecting "the security and defense policies of individual member states and taking into account the security and defense interests of all member states."

At the same time, the European Council reaffirmed the EU's readiness to continue providing Ukraine with "robust military support," including through the instruments of the European Union Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform Ukraine and the European Peace Facility.

"The European Council recalls the unwavering support of the European Union for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, as well as its inherent right to self-defense against Russian aggression," the document emphasizes.

EU countries also aim to intensify their efforts to cooperate with Ukraine and other countries in order to "secure the broadest possible international support for the key principles and goals of the Ukrainian formula for peace, including through the forthcoming Global Peace Summit."

Members of the European alliance highlighted the importance of providing Kyiv with future stable, predictable, and sustainable financial support in the coming years.

"The European Union also remains committed to supporting Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction in coordination with international partners, including in the areas of psychological and psychosocial rehabilitation and demining assistance."

Recall that the extraordinary EU summit started yesterday, during which alliance members discussed further steps to support Ukraine on its path towards joining the North Atlantic and European blocs and providing long-term support in the war with Russia.
