EU Extends Sanctions Against Russia, Source Says

EU ambassadors have extended sanctions against individuals involved in violations or threats to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Ukrinform reports, citing a competent diplomatic source in the European Union.
‘The restrictive measures have been extended for the next six months, until 15 September 2025,’ the source said.
At present, the EU official refrained from disclosing the details of the decision. At the same time, he confirmed that the sanctions were not renewed against four individuals, and three other deceased persons were removed from the sanctions list.
According to the source, Russian businessman Mikhail Fridman remains on the sanctions list. At the same time, as a result of a compromise decision between the member states, the following names have been removed from the sanctions list: Rashevsky, Ismailova, Kantor, Degtyarev.
As The Gaze previously reported, in February, EU foreign ministers adopted the 16th package of sanctions against Russia over its aggression against Ukraine. The new sanctions target not only Russia's shadowy navy, but also those who operate dangerous oil tankers, video game controllers used to fly drones, banks that circumvent sanctions, and propaganda outlets that spread lies.
