EU, G7, and Ukrainian Government Hold Meeting of Ukraine Donor Platform Steering Committee Offline in Kyiv

The ninth meeting of the Steering Committee of the interagency Donor Coordination Platform of Ukraine has recently taken place. For the first time, representatives of the Government of Ukraine, the G7 countries and the European Union held the event offline in Kyiv, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported.
The event was attended by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, heads of the Ministries of Finance, Economy, Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine. The event was also attended by Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert-Jan Koopman from the European Commission, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics Dalip Singh from the White House, and US Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker from the United States, as well as representatives of the G7 countries, the European Commission and international financial organisations.
The discussion focused on meeting Ukraine's budgetary needs in 2024 and 2025, as well as on the reconstruction and implementation of structural reforms.
According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the funds are prioritised for energy security and the purchase of energy equipment for those regions where the situation is most difficult.
In total, as of 9 April, the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine has attracted more than €410 million from 13 partner countries and international organisations. More than €393 million has been transferred to the account (the remaining amount is pledges that will be transferred by sponsors soon). These funds have been used to finance the most urgent needs of Ukrainian energy companies, including the purchase of generators, power transformers, switches, spare parts, technical equipment, materials, special equipment, fuel, and physical protection for energy facilities.
Most of the funds have been allocated to meet the urgent needs of energy companies from the frontline regions of Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Odesa, the Ministry of Energy reports.
The Ministry has managed to secure the trust of its partners through a system of transparent distribution of funds. The Ministry of Energy has a working group on humanitarian aid that considers requests from Ukrainian energy companies to purchase the necessary aid at the expense of the fund. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) procures energy equipment in accordance with international transparency standards.
