EU Grants Ukraine Another €1 Billion From Frozen Russian Assets

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine had received another €1 billion from the European Union from revenues from frozen Russian assets.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to his post on social media.
Shmyhal said that €1 billion was the fifth tranche of macro-financial assistance from the EU under the ERA initiative. The funds raised will be directed to key state budget expenditures.
He said that Ukraine has already received a total of €7 billion from the EU under the ERA initiative. This resource is secured by income from the use of Russia's immobilized assets.
At the end of March, it became known that in 2025, the EU could allocate up to €9 billion in military aid to Ukraine as part of the support provided from frozen Russian assets.
Recently, Kyiv criticized plans to give billions of frozen Russian funds to Western investors.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on May 8, the European Commission disbursed the fourth tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €1 billion under the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) initiative, which provides Kyiv with financial resources from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
