Ukraine to Get Largest-Ever Fleet of THeMIS Unmanned Ground Vehicles

Ukraine will receive the largest fleet of THeMIS unmanned ground vehicles in its history, thanks to a donation from the European government and support from Milrem Robotics, a leading Estonian robotics developer.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Defence Blog.
Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics, emphasized that this partnership demonstrates Europe's ability to respond jointly to threats and strengthens Ukraine's defense capabilities.
“The cooperation between our governments and leading defence industry partners underscores how Europe can respond to shared threats with agility and unity. We take pride in contributing to Ukraine’s defence capabilities through our combat-proven THeMIS UGVs,” he said.
Estonian robotics developer has announced that the delivery will be scalable, allowing for additional units to be provided in the future if needed. The company will also organize training for Ukrainian military personnel so that they can effectively integrate unmanned systems into frontline operations.
It is noted that the THeMIS platform has become one of the most widely used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in its class. It is a versatile and cost-effective unmanned vehicle used in 19 countries and designed to support troops, logistics, reconnaissance, and direct fire support.
Importantly, Ukraine has been operating 15 THeMIS underwater vehicles since 2022, and the new expansion of the fleet will significantly increase the capabilities of ground-based drones for high-risk tasks such as transporting ammunition and evacuating the wounded, reducing the threat to troops.
The modular design of the vehicles allows them to be equipped with various combat or logistics kits, making THeMIS a flexible tool on the battlefield.
The expansion of unmanned systems in Ukraine comes amid active growth in the use of drones since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, when ground drones have become an important force multiplier.
Milrem Robotics has reportedly confirmed the reliability of its vehicles through numerous international exercises and combat tests, establishing itself as a key supplier of advanced robotic solutions for the military.
As The Gaze informed earlier, Ukraine became the first country to routinely use swarms of drones with artificial intelligence on the battlefield, and is now preparing to test even larger-scale operations with over a hundred drones.
