Starmer: Coalition of the Willing Endorses “Unbreakable Pledge” to Ukraine

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the “unbreakable pledge” to support Ukraine by the Coalition of the Willing and stressed the need to put pressure on Putin to end the war.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to the UK government's press release.
During a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that Russia and Vladimir Putin cannot be trusted, as Moscow is simultaneously delaying peace talks and continuing to attack Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.
In this regard, he recalled that recent shelling had caused significant damage to the British Council and EU representative offices, which once again underscores the threat posed by Russia.
Starmer noted that "the group had an unbreakable pledge to Ukraine, with President Trump's backing, and it was clear they now needed to go even further to apply pressure on Putin to secure a cessation of hostilities.”
The Prime Minister also thanked military planners and chiefs of general staff for their prompt work on deploying forces in the event of a ceasefire.
In turn, on the eve of the meeting, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, outlined three priorities for action: transforming Ukraine into a “steel porcupine,” creating a multinational force to support Ukraine with the participation of the US, and strengthening Europe's defense position. She concluded that it is now important to move forward and implement these plans.
European Council President António Costa also expressed his strong support for Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s security is Europe’s security and today we’re turning commitment into action,” he stated.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Wednesday to coordinate their positions ahead of a high-level meeting of the Coalition of the Willing.
