EU Sanctions Russians Over Baltic GPS Jamming and Disinformation Campaigns

The European Union has imposed fresh sanctions on nine individuals and six entities linked to Russia’s destabilizing activities abroad, including the disruption of civil aviation in the Baltic region and orchestrating foreign disinformation campaigns.
The Gaze reports this, referring to an official press release from the Council of the EU.
Among those sanctioned is the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network, a state-run entity responsible for transmitting Russian state propaganda in occupied territories of Ukraine.
The network’s general director and a senior official overseeing communication infrastructure in the occupied regions have also been blacklisted.
The 841st Separate Electronic Warfare Center of the Russian Armed Forces, along with two of its senior staff, was sanctioned for its role in electronic signal interference originating from Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave.
The center is accused of jamming and spoofing global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), disrupting civil aviation in the Baltic states and threatening flight safety.
Additional entities facing sanctions include the BRICS Journalists Association (BJA), the Foundation to Battle Injustice (R-FBI), and the Center for Geopolitical Expertise (CGE).
BJA and R-FBI were founded by late Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin and are allegedly involved in coordinated influence operations, including a 2023 disinformation campaign accusing French soldiers of abducting children in Niger.
The CGE, founded by Russian ultra-nationalist ideologue Aleksandr Dugin, has been implicated in organizing coordinated propaganda efforts aimed at undermining Ukraine.
Also included in the latest sanctions package are a Russian military intelligence officer, several pro-Kremlin propagandists, and Russian national Yevgeny Shevchenko, along with his company Tigerweb, which has disseminated pro-Russian narratives targeting Western audiences, particularly in France.
Those added to the EU’s sanctions list will face asset freezes, travel bans, and prohibitions on receiving funds or economic resources from EU entities or individuals.
