European Film Academy Announces Winners of European Film Awards 2024
The film of the year at the European Film Awards 2024 is the French film 'Emilia Pérez'. This conclusion was reached by the European Film Academy. It was reported by Euronews.
The winners in 22 categories were announced at a ceremony on the evening of Sunday, 8 December. The celebrations took place at the KKL Luzern centre on the shores of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.
Jacques Audiard's musical 'Emilia Pérez' won the most awards and the Best Film nomination that evening. In total, it won five awards, including one for the Spanish transgender actress Karla Sofia Gascon for the role of Emilia Pérez.
Emilia Pérez tells the story of a lawyer, Rita, who receives an unexpected offer: to help the leader of the drug cartel, Juan Manitas del Monte, leave the criminal world by implementing an incredible plan - to change her gender and become a woman.
