France and UK Propose Partial Ceasefire Between Russia and Ukraine for One Month

The French government says it is also working to restore relations between the United States and Ukraine to achieve a lasting and stable peace.
‘We have proposed a ceasefire,’ government spokeswoman Sophie Primas told LCI today. ‘This will be considered in the context of negotiations with the US. France and Europe are trying to re-establish communication between the US and Ukraine.’
President Emmanuel Macron said that France and the UK have proposed a partial ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine for one month. According to the French president, this is part of European diplomatic efforts to strengthen Western support for Ukraine.
Macron announced that he will address the people of his country tonight. ‘At this moment of uncertainty, when the world is facing great challenges, I will address you this evening,’ Macron wrote on Platform X.
Meanwhile, UK Defence Secretary John Healey will meet with his US counterpart Pete Hegseth in Washington tomorrow to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine.
‘We will continue this work in Washington in the coming days,’ Healey said.
Also, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stressed that he wants to continue negotiations with allies to find a way to a lasting peace in the war in Ukraine. Following the public spat between Trump and Zelensky, Starmer convened and hosted a summit of European heads of state and government in London on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, at a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump and his Vice President J.D. Vance, a dispute over security guarantees for Ukraine broke out at the White House, and Zelenskyy left the White House earlier than planned. After that, it became known that the US had suspended all military assistance to Ukraine.
