Germany Scrambles Fighter Jets Twice Due to Russian Aircraft
German military aircraft had to take off twice on Monday to escort Russian planes.
This was reported by the Luftwaffe on X (Twitter).
‘Our Eurofighter jets have received notifications from (air bases - ed.) Laage and Lielvarde to jointly identify and escort Russian Il-20Ms,’ the post says.
It is noted that the Russian aircraft were flying without a flight plan and transponders.
The German Air Force, together with NATO partners, patrols the skies over the Baltic. The Laage base is located in Germany, Lielvarde is in Latvia.
Earlier, the United States announced that it was deploying a group of strategic bombers to Europe to take part in military exercises.
