U.S. Strategic Bombers Deployed to Europe for Military Exercises
The United States is deploying a group of strategic bombers to Europe to take part in military exercises, according to U.S. Air Force Europe.
‘The next deployment of the operational bomber group to Europe is set to begin in the coming days, when US strategic bombers will fly from the continental US to the US European Command area of responsibility,’ the command said.
It noted that this long-planned deployment is scheduled to begin with the US Air Force bombers flying through international airspace under a pre-submitted flight plan and with appropriate diplomatic clearance for when the aircraft are flying through the airspace of a sovereign country.
During the deployment, U.S. bomber crews will train and operate alongside NATO Allies and partners for several weeks, demonstrating the United States' commitment to global security and stability.
Earlier in Brussels, at a press conference on former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö's report on EU civil and military preparedness, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Putin's war against Ukraine is the biggest threat to European security today, and that the response to it requires clear coordination across the European Union.
