Germany to Provide €70 Million to Support Ukraine's Energy System Destroyed by Russia's Missile Attacks
On 25 September, the Bundestag's Budget Committee approved an aid package totalling €70 million for Ukraine's heat and power sector.
This was reported by DPA with reference to the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
The money will be used to provide Ukrainian cities and communities with small combined heat and power plants, boilers, generators and solar panels.
The goal of this approach is to create a decentralised energy supply using small thermal power plants or solar systems.
According to the German agency, the creation of a decentralised and flexible energy supply using small combined heat and power plants, boilers, generators and solar systems is intended to prevent the worst effects in the affected cities and communities, especially as winter approaches.
Thanks to this assistance, community centres, hospitals, schools and other social facilities will have a more reliable and independent energy supply, Berlin says.
According to Minister Svenja Schulze, it will be ‘not so easy’ for Russia to destroy the decentralised energy system in Ukraine.
As The Gaze previously reported, G7 foreign ministers called on the international community to urgently increase support for Ukraine's energy sector ahead of winter.
