Golden Jump: Mahuchikh Triumphs in Tokyo with Unmatched 1.96m

Ukrainian high jump star Yaroslava Mahuchikh claimed a dominant victory at the Continental Tour Gold meet in Tokyo, clearing 1.96 meters and continuing her undefeated streak in major competitions this season.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Ukrainian media.
The Tokyo event marked the return of the Continental Tour’s top tier to the Japanese capital after a nine-year hiatus. Mahuchikh, the current world record holder, skipped the opening heights and made her first jump at 1.91 meters, which she cleared with ease. With no competitors left in the contest at that point, she had already secured the win. She then went on to successfully clear 1.96 meters on her first attempt, setting the highest winning mark at this event since 2001.
Mahuchikh’s closest rival, Michaela Hrubá of the Czech Republic, managed 1.85 meters but failed at 1.88, while Greece’s Tatiana Gusin completed the podium with a jump of 1.80 meters.
This victory marks Mahuchikh’s fourth consecutive international win in 2025, following gold-medal performances at Diamond League events in Xiamen and Shanghai, and the What Gravity Challenge. Her Tokyo result is her eighth gold medal of the season, alongside a bronze from the World Championships in Nanjing.
Mahuchikh’s commanding form signals strong prospects for the remainder of the 2025 athletic season, as she continues to build momentum ahead of the major championships later this year.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian para swimmers won 2 gold and 4 bronze medals at the World Series international tournament in Paris, France.
