Ukraine to Participate in Frankfurt Book Fair

The Ukrainian Book Institute invites publishers to submit applications to participate in the Frankfurt Book Fair, which will take place on 15-19 October in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
Applications must be submitted by 18 July 2025 (inclusive).
The institute noted that participation in the fair within the national stand is free for Ukrainian publishers.
During the selection process, preference will be given to publishers who have already participated in the fair and provide examples of successful participation in previous years in their application; represent books about the Russian-Ukrainian war, history and culture of Ukraine; demonstrate readiness to participate in the fair in 2025.
The mandatory conditions for participation in the Ukrainian national stand are the provision of a list of potential partners with whom meetings are planned during the fair; the presence of a representative of the publishing house authorised to conduct negotiations on the sale of rights, who speaks English or German, throughout the entire duration of the fair; mandatory participation of representatives of the publishing house on the day of the stand construction and throughout the fair; independent financing of participation (travel, accommodation, meals); presentation of books by Ukrainian authors exclusively at the stand; fulfilment of all conditions for participation in cooperation with the UBI in 2024–2025 within the framework of participation in fairs; provision of a report on the results of participation after the end of the fair; timely provision of information upon request from the UBI.
The fair is primarily aimed at a B2B audience.
‘Therefore, we expect to see books that are already of interest to your foreign partners,’ the UBI said.
Independent delivery of books to the fair venue will be considered an advantage.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the book ‘War & Justice Diary: Looking at Women Looking at War’ by Ukrainian writer Victoria Amelina has won The Orwell Prize 2025.
