Hungary Allocates Nearly One Million Euros to Lebanese Army Instead of Aid to Ukraine

Hungary has allocated almost one million euros to support the Lebanese army instead of supplying weapons to Ukraine, Foreign Minister and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto said, as quoted by Telex.
‘Instead of supplying weapons to Ukraine, Hungary is supporting the Lebanese army with 400 million forints (over 900,000 euros),’ Szijjarto said.
He stressed that his country maintains friendly relations with Lebanon and seeks to promote stability and security in the region. According to him, the financial assistance is sent through the European Peace Fund.
‘We send these funds to Lebanon. And we can do this because we do not send weapons to Ukraine, so we can transfer money that would have gone there to other countries,’ the minister added.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has repeatedly stated his country's desire to stay out of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, Hungary provides humanitarian aid to Ukraine and hosts Ukrainian refugees.
