Today in The Hague, in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Convention on the Establishment of an International Commission for the Examination of Claims for Damage Caused by Russia’s Aggression against Ukraine was signed.
This marks the first compensation mechanism created during the ongoing war. The Convention lays the groundwork for the documentation of damages and for providing real compensation to millions of Ukrainians affected by Russia’s aggression.
The decision is the result of long-term joint efforts by Ukraine and its international partners and represents an important step in the development of modern international law.
