Latvia has sent another batch of Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, along with additional equipment to support its units.

The Gaze reports this, referring to a statement made by Latvia's Ministry of Defence.

Latvian Defence Minister Andris Sprūds underlined Riga’s long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine.

“Latvia will stand by Ukraine for as long as necessary. These Patria vehicles will help Ukrainian forces confront the aggressor, while also giving us the opportunity to test Latvian-produced systems in real combat conditions,” Sprūds said.

Major General Kaspars Pudāns, Commander of the National Armed Forces, noted that Latvia has been assisting Ukraine from the very start of the full-scale invasion, not only with equipment and weapons but also with training and advice.

“In Ukrainian hands, these vehicles will be deployed under the toughest battlefield conditions, and the lessons learned will strengthen Latvia’s own defence capabilities,” he added.

The Patria 6×6, developed by Finland’s Patria and produced under license in Latvia, is a modern multi-role combat vehicle designed for troop transport and frontline missions.

Built to NATO’s STANAG 4569 standards, it provides protection against small arms fire, artillery fragments, and mines. It can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h, cover 700 kilometers without refueling, and navigate difficult terrain and water obstacles thanks to its advanced suspension system.

Latvia placed the order for Ukraine earlier this year in response to a formal request from Kyiv. In total, Riga has committed to delivering 42 Patria 6×6 vehicles, alongside other military assets. Previous deliveries were allocated to Ukraine’s 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.

The latest transfer follows Latvia’s delivery of 1,500 combat drones to Ukraine in May as part of the international drone coalition, which aims to produce 12,000 unmanned systems in the first half of 2025.

As The Gaze reported earlier, Latvia is also allocating €5 million to support Ukraine as part of the new NATO-US PURL initiative, aimed at rapidly supplying American weapons to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
