Let's get it done: Trump Calls Phone Talks with Putin and Zelenskyy ‘Very Positive’
US President Donald Trump called the phone conversations he had with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday very good and positive, stressing the need to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
This was announced during a press briefing on Wednesday by White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt, Ukrinform reports.
‘I just spoke to the president about these phone calls, and he told me to tell you all that they were very good calls. They were very positive, and the US administration is fully committed to a peace agreement to end the Russian-Ukrainian war once and for all,’ the White House spokeswoman said.
She also quoted President Trump's post on his own social media platform, Truth Social, after his conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
‘The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants peace. We discussed various topics related to the war, but mainly the meeting that is scheduled for Friday in Munich, where Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the delegation,’ Trump said in this regard.
The US President also expressed hope that the results of the meeting in Munich would be positive.
‘It's time to stop this senseless war that has caused massive and completely unnecessary death and destruction. May God bless the people of Russia and Ukraine,’ Trump wrote.
During a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the possibility of achieving peace, cooperation in the field of technology and the preparation of a new agreement on security, economic and resource cooperation.
‘I have just spoken to Donald Trump. We had a long conversation. About the possibilities of achieving peace. About our readiness to work together at the team level. We talked about our technological capabilities, including drones and other modern production. I am grateful to President Trump for his interest in what we can do together,’ Zelenskyy said.
‘Ukraine wants peace more than anyone else. We are defining our joint steps with America to stop Russian aggression and guarantee a reliable, lasting peace. As President Trump said, let's get it done,’ the President of Ukraine added.
According to him, they also talked about the preparation of a new agreement on security and economic and resource cooperation, which was presented in Kyiv by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent during his first visit to Ukraine.
