Lithuania and Estonia Sign Bilateral Security Agreements with Ukraine at EU Summit
On the first day of the EU Summit, two more EU and NATO member states, Lithuania and Estonia, signed bilateral security agreements with Ukraine. Ukraine has now signed security agreements with 19 countries and the European Union.
The signing ceremony took place before the Council of Europe meeting the day before, which was also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He signed the agreements with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
The agreement on security cooperation and long-term support between Ukraine and Estonia provides for 0.25% of the country's GDP to be spent annually on military support for Kyiv, the launch of a Strategic Dialogue to discuss security and defence issues, and the strengthening of sanctions against Russia.
Under the security cooperation agreement, Lithuania will seek to provide Ukraine with 0.25% of its GDP in military support annually and plans to resume a military training mission in Ukraine. This is stated in the text of the agreement, which was published on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Earlier, it also became known that Ukraine had signed a bilateral security agreement with the European Union.
