Lithuania to Deploy Ukrainian Acoustic Drone Detection System

Lithuania is preparing to deploy an acoustic drone detection system developed in Ukraine, which is expected to be operational next year, said Lithuanian Armed Forces Commander Raimundas Vaitkūnas amid discussions of another incident involving a UAV entering Lithuanian airspace.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to LRT.
The general was asked whether Lithuania would have an acoustic drone detection system and when, to complement the existing radar equipment, which has its technical limitations.
"This year has already seen the beginning – we have allocated funds for the purchase. By the end of the year, testing will take place, and, as the Air Force commander mentioned today, these systems will begin to be used next year," said Vaišnoras.
He added that the process has been somewhat delayed due to bureaucratic procedures, because “this is, so to speak, a Ukrainian system that had to be adapted to our American systems due to sensitive nuances.” Earlier, it was mentioned that this refers to the Sky Fortress system.
The commander-in-chief also said that additional air defense assets would be deployed closer to the border with Belarus.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Lithuania wants to bring in extra air defense forces to protect its airspace after two incidents with drones flying into the country from Belarus.
