Ukraine Ramps Up to 1,000 Drones a Day to Counter Russia, Zelenskyy Says

Ukraine is ramping up its domestic drone manufacturing capabilities, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy setting an ambitious target of producing at least 1,000 interceptor drones per day to bolster the country’s air defense.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Zelenskyy’s post on social media.
The announcement came during Zelenskyy’s visit to a drone production facility on July 25, where he met with engineers and expressed gratitude for their work in protecting Ukrainian cities and communities.
“I visited the facility, thanked the team, and saw how protection is being built for our cities and villages, for our people,” Zelenskyy said. “Ukraine is capable of producing excellent technology and is maintaining its leadership in protecting lives.”
The president emphasized that government agencies have been tasked with finalizing all necessary contracts to ensure uninterrupted production.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to coordinate with international partners to prevent any funding gaps for these critical defense programs.
This initiative builds on previous statements by Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who confirmed in June that multiple types of interceptor drones, both ground-based and airborne, are in development and have already been deployed on the frontlines.
Zelenskyy underscored that Ukraine’s growing industrial defense capabilities contribute directly to the broader security of Europe. “Ukraine’s production potential is a part of Europe’s collective strength. We are grateful to everyone who is building this strength,” he said.
Previous reports revealed that Ukraine has signed four major state contracts worth around $75 million to expand the production of interceptor drones.
The program is a coordinated effort involving government institutions, private-sector companies, volunteer initiatives, and financial organizations.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian intelligence has revealed for the first time that Russia is using a decoy drone, built entirely from Chinese components, to spoof Ukrainian air defences.
