Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, announced a new package of military support for Ukraine that defending its territory against the Russian army, during the NATO Summit 2023, which started yesterday.
This information was reported on the official website of the British government.
"As Ukraine makes strategic progress in its counteroffensive, and the degradation of Russian forces begins to impact Putin's front line, we are strengthening our formal agreements to protect Ukraine in the long term," stated Rishi.
The new support package includes an additional 70 combat and logistical vehicles, including British armored vehicles - CVRT. The British army's transport vehicles will be provided to Ukraine "to support forces on the front line, transport vital ammunition and equipment, as well as evacuate severely wounded soldiers and repair damaged equipment from battles."
Additionally, the United Kingdom will deliver thousands of additional tank ammunition for Challenger 2 tanks to the front lines and allocate an extra 50 million pounds for the support and maintenance of previously supplied equipment and vehicles in Ukraine. This includes spare parts, technical support, and personnel training for technical maintenance.
Furthermore, the UK announced a project called "the creation of a medical rehabilitation center," which will improve the treatment and return of Ukrainian soldiers to the front lines after injuries. The future center will collaborate with Stanford Hospital to "reduce the long-term consequences of war."
"The center will assist the most severely injured, helping them adapt to prosthetics, relearn walking, and restore confidence and aspirations for the future. For those with less severe injuries, the center will expedite recovery and help them return to the ranks of the Armed Forces to defend Ukraine," the statement said.
The United Kingdom has become the first of the G7 countries to provide combat tanks to Kyiv and the first country to agree to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles - Storm Shadow. Moreover, London reaffirmed its international leadership by being the first to announce support for training and later the transfer of Western F-16 aircraft to Ukrainian pilots.
Over the past six months, the United Kingdom has expanded its program to train Ukrainian military personnel. Currently, more than 19,000 soldiers have been trained under the British program.
It should be noted that on July 11, as part of the NATO Summit 2023, France followed the lead of the United Kingdom and announced the transfer of long-range "air-to-ground" missiles - SCALP-EG. Such missiles are designed to destroy large immobile targets, including bunkers.
