Macron: French Troops Will Deploy to Poland in Case of Russian Aggression

French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged that French armed forces will be deployed to Poland in the event of a Russian attack.
The statement came during a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk following the signing of a new bilateral friendship treaty between France and Poland, The Gaze reports, citing Ukrinform.
“The decisions that France may take in accordance with its Constitution, the organization of our armed forces, the ongoing investments we make, as well as the quality of our personnel and command — all of this allows me, without any doubt, to say that yes, such a deployment is possible in case of aggression,” Macron said.
To underscore the readiness and capability of the French military, the president pointed to the rapid deployment of French troops to Romania just five days after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
“No other European country was able to do it so quickly and on such a scale. So, we have this capability, and it will certainly be activated if aggression indeed takes place,” he added.
Addressing broader defense commitments, including nuclear deterrence, Macron reaffirmed that the solidarity enshrined in the newly signed treaty extends to all areas — including nuclear policy.
The new treaty and Macron’s assurances signal a deepening Franco-Polish security partnership amid continued concerns over potential Russian military escalation along NATO’s eastern flank.
