Russia carried out one of its largest aerial assaults in recent months overnight, launching more than 450 attack drones and 30 missiles at targets across Ukraine.

The Gaze reports this, referring to a statement made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The strikes damaged over a dozen civilian sites and left thousands of households without electricity, as Russian forces targeted energy, port, and other critical infrastructure in multiple regions.

Two people were wounded in Odesa region, while power outages were reported in Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions.

Parts of Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy regions were also hit. Authorities said the right-bank part of Kherson region was left completely without electricity, and electric public transport in Odesa was suspended.

Zelenskyy said emergency and utility services were working around the clock to restore electricity and water supplies in affected communities.

“Every attack shows that Russia has no intention of ending this war,” Zelenskyy said, calling the strikes a continuation of what he described as terror against civilians. He urged Ukraine’s partners to accelerate assistance, particularly in air defense systems, long-range capabilities, and pressure on Moscow.

Separately, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba, who oversees Ukraine’s reconstruction and regional development, said that strike on the Odesa Sea Port sparked a fire at grain storage facilities, marking the second attack on the site within 24 hours, he said.

Energy infrastructure was also damaged in Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions, Kuleba added. In Kherson alone, more than 140,000 consumers were left without power, while several districts in the Mykolaiv region experienced outages. Authorities switched to backup power sources to maintain heat and water supply and began repair works.

“Russia is again trying to plunge communities into darkness and cold and to undermine our maritime logistics by attacking ports,” Kuleba said. “Despite this, restoration of critical infrastructure is underway as quickly as possible.

As The Gaze previously reported, Russia carried out a large-scale overnight attack across Ukraine early on December 6, striking several regions with drones and cruise missiles.
