Musk Labels USAID a Criminal Organisation, Accuses It of 'Funding COVID-19 Development', Claims Trump 'Agreed' to Shut It Down
Elon Musk, an American billionaire, owner of the X social network and head of the newly created Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), has called the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) a criminal organisation.
Musk also accused USAID of allegedly funding ‘biological weapons research and the creation of COVID-19’.
‘Did you know that USAID, using your tax dollars, has funded biological weapons research, including COVID-19, which has killed millions of people?’ - he wrote.
Two USAID officials, namely USAID Director of Security John Voorhees and his deputy, were placed on leave for refusing to hand over classified documents to the Musk Commission, as reported by CNN, citing sources.
Employees of the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE) demanded to be let in and threatened to call the US Marshals Service to gain access to the building. DOGE representatives also wanted access to security systems, personal files, and access to classified information. In the end, they got everything, including intelligence reports.
According to Musk, he discussed the USAID issue in detail with the US president.
‘He (Trump) agreed that we should shut it down,’ Musk said. ’It's not an apple and a worm. What we have is just a tangle of worms. It is not recoverable.’
The White House has not yet commented on this statement.
USAID has not yet commented publicly on this, their account on social network X has been blocked and their website has been disabled since 1 February.
