Speaking before Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Marcos Perestrello delivered a powerful address reaffirming unwavering support for Ukraine, The Gaze reports, citing Ukrinform.

Perestrello stated that Russia alone bears full responsibility for its illegal and unprovoked war, which has led to death, suffering, and widespread destruction across Ukraine. He sharply criticized the regimes in Belarus, North Korea, Iran, and China for supporting Moscow’s aggression and stressed that the international community must remain united in response.

Our responsibility is clear,” he said. “We must continue to help Ukraine meet its immediate defense needs. But just as importantly, we must ensure that Europe, the United States, and Ukraine work together toward a just and lasting peace, backed by strong security guarantees. We must give Ukraine the strongest possible assurance that Russia will never again be able to attack.”

In his remarks, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed gratitude for Perestrello’s visit, calling it a signal of deep solidarity at a time when Ukraine is fighting for the freedom and security of the entire Euro-Atlantic space.

The two officials discussed NATO PA’s long-standing backing of Ukraine’s path to full NATO membership and the importance of sustained investment in Ukraine’s defense industry. Stefanchuk noted that holding Russia accountable through sanctions and legal mechanisms remains a top priority.

Perestrello recalled that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly was among the first international institutions to expel Russia in 2014, and one of the earliest to support the Crimean Platform. He also highlighted that NATO PA was the first NATO delegation to visit Ukraine after the outbreak of the full-scale invasion in 2022, underscoring its consistent support.

After the parliamentary address, Perestrello and the NATO PA delegation visited the site of a recent Russian missile strike in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district, where 13 civilians, including a child, were killed. The symbolic gesture reflected the Assembly’s solidarity not just in words, but in shared mourning and remembrance.
