Netherlands to Provide Ukraine With €6 Billion More
The Dutch government plans to allocate an additional €6 billion to Ukraine, the country's ambassador to Ukraine, Alle Dorhout, said in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to the diplomat, the Netherlands has already allocated EUR 3.8 billion to Ukraine, and another EUR 6 billion is planned to be allocated in the near future.
‘We have already received 3.8 billion euros, but we plan to allocate another six billion. Thus, the Netherlands has allocated more than €10 billion in military aid, of which almost four billion have already been received,’ he said.
The ambassador says that over the past three years, the Netherlands has supported Ukraine in a variety of ways - morally, with humanitarian aid, reconstruction assistance, economic aid, and military aid.
Dorhout says that energy is one of the priorities for the Netherlands in helping Ukraine.
‘We have already done a lot to support your country, and we are constantly looking for new opportunities. My colleagues are constantly in touch with the Ukrainian side to see how else we can help Ukraine get through this winter,’ the ambassador said.
The diplomat stressed that the fight against Russian aggression is ‘not only in the interests of Ukraine, but also in the interests of Europe’, as it is about protecting security, prosperity and values.
In this context, he stressed the importance of Ukraine's accession to the EU, as the Treaty on European Union has a separate provision on security.
‘When the war is over, the EU will definitely have a long-term relationship with Ukraine, and I believe that everything that the EU and its member states are doing now in terms of military assistance to Ukraine will partly shift towards economic support, reconstruction, etc.’, Dorhout added.
