Olena Zelenska and Melania Trump Hold Talks in New York on Protecting Children

Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska met with U.S. First Lady Melania Trump in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where the two discussed joint efforts to safeguard children affected by Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Zelenska’s post on social media.
The Ukrainian First Lady thanked Melania Trump for her consistent support of Ukraine and her personal commitment to children who have become victims of Russian aggression.
She expressed particular appreciation for Trump’s earlier letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, which called for peace on behalf of children.
The two first ladies underlined the importance of defending shared values, particularly safeguarding children and preserving childhood during wartime.
“I strongly believe in the power of soft influence – in humanity, compassion, and the ability to change reality for the better. I am confident that through joint efforts we can help all children who are in need of assistance,” Zelenska said.
The Ukrainian First Lady also voiced hope for continued cooperation with the United States in efforts to protect children and ensure their well-being.
Lately, U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg welcomed the meeting between First Lady Melania Trump and Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
“Wonderful the two First Ladies met to discuss protecting the most vulnerable in war-the children. Leaders of all Nations owe the children impacted by war protection they cannot give themselves. Thank you, Melania Trump and Olena Zelenska, for your courage and leadership,” Kellogg said.
In August, during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington, he delivered a letter from his wife to President Donald Trump, addressed directly to the U.S. First Lady. Earlier this year, Melania Trump herself sent a personal message to Putin, appealing for the protection of Ukrainian children.
As The Gaze previously reported, the European Union is set to host a high-level international summit aimed at addressing Russia’s systematic abduction of Ukrainian children.
