Director Christopher Nolan's film "Oppenheimer" has shattered yet another record, becoming the highest-grossing biopic of all time. In total, the film has amassed an incredible $912.7 million at the global box office, surpassing the previous record holder, 2018's "Bohemian Rhapsody," which collected $910.8 million. Collider reported this news.

It's worth noting that when comparing the budgets of both films, "Oppenheimer" had a production cost of $100 million, while "Bohemian Rhapsody" was made for half the price, at just $50 million.

"Oppenheimer" made its debut on July 21st and tells the story of the renowned theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who led the Manhattan Project, aimed at developing and testing the world's first atomic bomb. Cillian Murphy plays the lead role, and he is joined by a star-studded cast including Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Kenneth Branagh, and Rami Malek.

Rami Malek, who won his first Oscar for his role as Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody," makes a brief but significant appearance in "Oppenheimer." He portrays scientist David Hill, a supporter of Oppenheimer's work, and his testimony later exposes a conspiracy orchestrated by Lewis Strauss, which ultimately led to Strauss not being appointed as the U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

"Oppenheimer" is considered Christopher Nolan's most mature work to date. The film leans towards a somber, dialogue-driven tone, departing from the high spectacle typically associated with the director.

Currently, the film continues to play in theaters and is a top contender for the Academy Awards, particularly in the Best Director category, where Christopher Nolan stands a chance of finally receiving the long-awaited accolade. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is proposing to submit the film "Barbie" (which was released concurrently with "Oppenheimer") for major film awards, at the very least in two categories: Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor.

It's worth recalling that Greta Gerwig's film "Barbie" broke Warner Bros.' 12-year record, surpassing the box office juggernaut "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2." The film about the iconic wizard gathered $960.5 million worldwide. As of now, the Barbie film has already grossed over $1.34 billion and has become the undisputed champion of the global box office.
