PM Trudeau: US Has Launched a Trade War Against Canada

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that by imposing high import duties on Canadian goods, the US President is trying to destroy Canada's economy in order to achieve the country's annexation.
‘Today, the United States has launched a trade war against Canada, its closest partner and ally, its closest friend. Canadians are smart, but we will not back down from the fight. Not when our country is at stake,’ the Canadian Prime Minister said.
He added that the US explanation for the duties was completely false and misleading.
‘The explanation he gives for these unjustified duties - fentanyl - is completely false and untrue. So we have to listen to the one claim he has made repeatedly, that he wants a complete collapse of the Canadian economy because it will make annexation easier,’ Trudeau said.
He stressed that Canada will never become 51 states.
‘I have to admit, I was still hoping that these duties were part of a clever negotiating strategy designed to have consequences without actually being implemented. In recent weeks, Canadian companies have seen fewer orders from US consumers, expansion plans in Canada have been put on hold, and people have invested in the US instead because of the threat of tariffs. But once the tariffs are in place, the real impact of the trade war between our countries will be felt, and it will hurt Americans,’ Trudeau said.
He stressed that in response to the US tariffs, Canada will impose 25% of tariffs against $155 billion of US products. Starting with $30 billion worth of goods immediately, and the remaining $125 billion in 21 days.
