Polish President: US Will Not Reduce Its Presence in Eastern Europe, but Rather Expand It

The United States will not reduce its presence in Eastern Europe, but rather expand it. The war in Ukraine cannot end in a Russian victory, and this requires a ‘decisive policy’ by US President Donald Trump.
This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda during a media briefing in Warsaw on Tuesday after a meeting with US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia General Keith Kellogg.
Duda noted that he had presented Kellogg with the Polish view of the war in Ukraine and spoke about the aggressive actions and statements by Russia and its representatives.
In his opinion, the United States has ‘decisively entered the game’ in ending the war in Ukraine, and President Trump is very serious about achieving a result.
‘In this regard, I hope that there will be at least a ceasefire. I hope for an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine,’ Duda said.
He stressed that the Polish side in its talks with Kellogg, and last week also with Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, had made it clear that for Warsaw ‘it is obvious that this war cannot end in a Russian victory’.
‘This is clear, as well as the fact that, first of all, a just peace must be restored, as Ukraine needs it very much,’ the Polish leader said.
He added that it remains an open question what conditions of peace will be achieved as a result of the negotiations.
‘A very decisive policy is needed here, and I believe that President Donald Trump will be able to pursue such a decisive policy,’ Duda said.
He also said that the US side had assured him that it would not reduce its activity and the presence of US troops in Eastern Europe, but rather that it would strengthen the US presence. He expressed the hope that a ‘Fort Trump’ (an American military base - ed.), which was discussed during the first presidential term of the current head of the White House, would be established in Poland.
Duda stressed that the growth of American capabilities in Eastern Europe would be of great importance for the security of both Europe and Ukraine, with which Poland has good transport and railway connections.
