President of European Commission to Visit Ukraine and to Bring €160 Million for Energy
The European Union is providing 160 million euros to help Ukraine prepare for another winter in the face of Russian attacks on the energy system.
This was reported by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on X network.
She noted that the EU is providing an additional amount of about €160 million for this winter, which will include €60 million in humanitarian aid, such as for the arrangement of heating stations and heaters, and about €100 million for repairs and renewable energy generation.
‘And this amount - 100 million - is provided from the proceeds of Russian assets frozen in Europe. It is absolutely fair that Russia should pay for what it has destroyed,’ von der Leyen said.
The President noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the EU has provided about €2 billion in energy support to Ukraine.
According to AP, on Friday, Ursula von der Leyen will arrive in Kyiv to discuss these measures with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
