President of the Czech Senate, Lithuanian President, and Latvian Prime Minister Arrive in Ukraine for the 4th Crimea Platform Summit
On Wednesday, 11 September, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and Prime Minister of Latvia Evіка Silina arrived in Kyiv to participate in the fourth summit of the Crimean Platform.
The European politicians announced this on the social network X on the morning of 11 September.
‘I came to Kyiv for the Crimean Platform Summit. In August 2021, at the inaugural summit of the platform, I said that the annexation of Crimea cannot be similar to our Munich ‘about us without us’. At that time, I represented the Czech Republic and stressed that we must stand up for Ukraine,’ the Czech Senate President wrote.
He stressed that the developments since the Russian seizure of Crimea show that if the support of allies is not enough, Russia will not stop.
‘We must also remember that peace talks cannot take place without the participation of Ukraine and that the results of the negotiations must be acceptable to Ukraine,’ Vystříl said.
‘I have just arrived in Kyiv. Glad to be back and to meet with my dear friend Volodymyr Zelenskyy in solidarity with Ukraine,’ Nauseda wrote.
He added that providing military and economic support to Ukraine is crucial to protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
‘Morning in Kyiv. Latvia will be with the Ukrainian people until they win, and will always support Ukraine on its way to the European Union and NATO! Glory to Ukraine!’ the Latvian Prime Minister wrote.
The Prime Minister is on a working visit to Ukraine from Wednesday, 11 September, to Friday, 13 September. During the visit, she will meet with Ukrainian officials and participate in events to discuss Latvia's future military, political, humanitarian, financial and other support for Ukraine until it defeats the aggressor Russia and Ukraine's course towards joining the European Union and NATO.
The Crimean Platform is a new international consultation and coordination format for meetings of leaders of democratic countries, initiated by Ukraine. The Crimean Platform gathers under its auspices thematic events and initiatives on the Crimean issue within international organisations, as well as other international governmental and non-governmental forums. The Platform's activities were officially launched at the Founding Summit in Kyiv on 23 August 2021.
